Variety show, also known as variety arts or variety entertainment, is entertainment made up of a variety of acts including musical performances, sketch comedy, magic, acrobatics, juggling, and ventriloquism. It is normally introduced by a compère (master of ceremonies) or host. The variety format made its way from the Victorian era stage in Britain and America to radio and then television. Variety shows were a staple of English language television from the late 1940s into the 1980s.

While the format is still widespread in some parts of the world, such as in the United Kingdom with the Royal Variety Performance, the Philippines with Eat Bulaga! and It's Showtime, and South Korea with Running Man, the proliferation of multichannel television and evolving viewer tastes have affected the popularity of variety shows in the United States. Despite this, their influence has still had a major effect on late night television whose late-night talk shows and NBC's variety series Saturday Night Live (which originally premiered in 1975) have remained popular fixtures of American television.

Jose Maria Ramos de Leon Jr. (born October 14, 1946), known professionally as Joey de Leon and also known as Henyo Master, is a Filipino comedian, actor, television host and songwriter. He is one of the members of the comedy trio, collectively known as TVJ with the Sotto brothers, Tito and Vic.

Aside from being one of the pioneer hosts of Eat Bulaga!, de Leon is also the creator of the said noontime variety show as recognized by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL), and the co-founder of the show's production company, TVJ Productions.

TVJ Productions, Inc. is a Philippine media production company co-owned by Eat Bulaga! hosts Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon (collectively known as "TVJ") and media company MediaQuest Holdings. The company was formed on June 7, 2023, after TVJ severed its ties with Television and Production Exponents, Inc. (TAPE), the former producer of Eat Bulaga! due to conflicts between TVJ and the new management.

Ariel Pagtalonia Manalo (born February 12, 1966), known professionally as Jose Manalo (Tagalog: [hoˈse mɐˈnɐlɔ]), is a Filipino actor, director, and comedian best known for appearing regularly on the noon-time variety show Eat Bulaga! on GMA Network and now on TV5. He is also known for his stand-up performances.

Walter James "Wally" Bayola (born May 3, 1972) (Tagalog: [ˈwali bɐˈjolɐ]), is a Filipino comedian and actor. He is best known for portraying Lola Nidora and other characters in the Kalyeserye portion of the noontime television variety show Eat Bulaga!. He appears alongside his co-hosts Jose Manalo and Paolo Ballesteros, the trio also known as JoWaPao, in the "Juan for All, All for Juan" segment of the said show.

Paolo Elito Macapagal Ballesteros IV (born November 29, 1982) is a Filipino actor, comedian and drag queen. He has appeared in films and several TV shows, he is one of the co-hosts of longtime noontime show Eat Bulaga! since 2001, and he is the host of Drag Race Philippines and Drag Race Philippines: Slaysian Royale.

Marie Pauleen Javier Luna-Sotto (born November 10, 1988) is a Filipino actress. She was a regular host of the long-running Philippine noontime variety show Eat Bulaga! since 2005, where she portrays the child-woman character Baby Poleng.

Ryzza Mae A. Dizon (Tagalog: [ˈrɐjsa meɪ ˈdɪsɔn]; born June 12, 2005) is a Filipina actress and television host. She rose to prominence in 2012 when she won that year's edition of Eat Bulaga!'s Little Miss Philippines. She is currently the second youngest host after Carren Eistrup in the variety show Eat Bulaga!
