Outraged, he was about to exact vengeance upon Polymele, but his son Diores, who was in love with his own sister, intervened and implored Aeolus to marry her to him, to which Aeolus consented.

• Amphinome, wife of Aeson, King of Iolcus. She was the mother to Jason and Promachus, Aeson's sons. She and her husband were persecuted by king Pelias of Iolcus. After Pelias had killed her husband and younger son, Amphinome stabbed herself with a sword. As she lay dying she pronounced a curse against the king. When Cronus searched after his son, Arne is said to have declared that she knew not where he was. From her the town of Arne was believed to have received its name which was also called Sinoessa in earlier times.
