Kota Iskandar (Jawi: كوتا إسكندر‎) (formerly Johor State New Administrative Centre (JSNAC)) is the administrative centre of the state of Johor, Malaysia and its seat of government (Executive branch and Legislative branch of the Johor state government). It is located in Iskandar Puteri, Johor Bahru District and it is the first phase of the Iskandar Puteri project. The Iskandar Puteri project itself is a part of Iskandar Malaysia. Kota Iskandar was developed by Cahaya Jauhar and the first phase was completed in 2008.

The University of Reading is a public research university in Reading, Berkshire, England. It was founded in 1892 as the University Extension College, Reading, an extension college of Christ Church, Oxford, and became University College, Reading in 1902. The institution became a university with the power to grant its own degrees in 1926 by royal charter from King George V, and was the only university to receive such a charter between the two world wars. The university is usually categorised as a red brick university, reflecting its original foundation in the 19th century.

The Johor Bahru District is a district located in the southern part of Johor, Malaysia. It covers an area of 1,063.97km and has a population of 1.8 million, making it the second largest district in Malaysia by population. The district capital is Johor Bahru and the administrative capital is Iskandar Puteri. The district borders Pontian District on the west, Kota Tinggi District on the east, Kulai District on the north and Singapore to the south. The urban centres are divided into the cities of Johor Bahru, Iskandar Puteri and Pasir Gudang. Johor Bahru District is currently the second-largest gross domestic product (GDP) contributor among all districts in Malaysia.

It is host to many thriving townships such as the Tebrau area, which hosts several shopping malls including ÆON Malls, Mid Valley Southkey, Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru, Toppen Shopping Centre and an IKEA outlet.

The Johor State Legislative Assembly (Malay: Dewan Negeri Johor) is the unicameral legislature of the Malaysian state of Johor. It is composed of 56 members who are elected from single-member constituencies throughout the state. Elections are held no more than five years apart. Prior to the 2022 state election, elections are always held concurrently with the federal parliament and other state assemblies elections (except Sarawak).

The State Assembly convenes at Sultan Ismail Building in Kota Iskandar, Iskandar Puteri, Johor Bahru.

Cahaya Jauhar (Cahaya Jauhar Sdn Bhd) is a Government Linked Company in Johor, Malaysia. It is a special vehicle joint venture company between the State of Johor under state-owned Johor State Secretary Incorporation (JSSI) and the Malaysia Federal Government under government linked company, UEM Land Berhad (Master Developer of Iskandar Puteri) to develop the new Johor State's administrative centre, which later known as Kota Iskandar and other government institutional building in Iskandar Puteri.

Gelang Patah is a town in Iskandar Puteri, Johor Bahru District, Johor, Malaysia. It was administered by ruling coalition, Barisan Nasional (BN) for over 5 decades until the 13th Malaysian General Elections. BN lost to the opposition, Pakatan Harapan in the 14th General Election as well as the 15th.

One of its schools, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Gelang Patah is the oldest school in Iskandar Puteri and accredited as a Trust School by its government. A trust school is managed jointly by Yayasan AMIR, and civil service principals and headmasters under the umbrella of the Ministry of Education to improve student outcomes and school management capabilities.
