European Green Party in the context of "European Free Alliance"

The Greens/European Free Alliance (Greens/EFA) is a political group of the European Parliament composed primarily of green political parties.

The group consists of European Green Party (EGP), part of the European Free Alliance (EFA), and members of Volt Europa and European Pirate Party political alliances.

The Ecologists – Europe Ecology The Greens (French: Les Écologistes – Europe Écologie Les Verts), commonly known as The Ecologists (French: Les Écologistes, LÉ) and formerly as Europe Ecology The Greens (French: Europe Écologie Les Verts [øʁɔp ekɔlɔʒi le vɛʁ], EELV [ə ɛl ve]) until 2023, is a centre-left to left-wing green political party in France. The party is a member of the European Green Party. It was formed on 13 November 2010 from the merger of The Greens and Europe Ecology.

LMP – Hungary's Green Party (Hungarian: LMP – Magyarország Zöld Pártja [ˈɛlɛmpeː ˈmɒɟɒrorsaːɡ ˈzøld ˈpaːrcɒ]) previously known as Politics Can Be Different (Hungarian: Lehet Más a Politika [ˈlɛhɛt ˈmaːʃ ˈɒː ˈpolitikɒ], LMP) until 2020, is a green-liberal political party in Hungary. Founded in 2009, it was one of four parties to win seats in the National Assembly in the 2010 parliamentary election. It is a member of the Global Greens, and formerly a member of the European Green Party.

The 2014 European Parliament election was held in the European Union (EU) between 22 and 25 May 2014. It was the 8th parliamentary election since the first direct elections in 1979, and the first in which the European political parties fielded candidates for President of the Commission.

The candidates, sometimes referred to by the German term Spitzenkandidaten (English: top candidates), were Jean-Claude Juncker for the European People's Party, Martin Schulz for the Party of European Socialists, Guy Verhofstadt for the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Party, Ska Keller and José Bové jointly for the European Green Party and Alexis Tsipras for the Party of the European Left. The Alliance of European Conservatives and Reformists and the European Alliance for Freedom declined to nominate candidates.

The Federation of Young European Greens, often referred to as FYEG (/ˈfiːɛɡ/ FEE-egg), is an umbrella organisation that gathers young green movements and organisations across Europe with 40,000 members. FYEG's aim is to defend climate and social justice on the European level. Since 2007, FYEG is the European Green Party's youth wing.

FYEG has 32 member organisations, 2 candidates and 2 associate members, along with two partner organisations - the Global Young Greens and Cooperation and Development Network Eastern Europe. It is a closer partner of the Green European Foundation, the European Green Party, and the Green Academy. It also holds a full membership to the European Youth Forum (EYF) which operates within the Council of Europe and European Union youth engagement frameworks and works closely with both these bodies.

The Green European Foundation is a European political foundation funded by the European Parliament. It is linked to, but independent of, other European Green actors such as the European Green Party and Greens–European Free Alliance.

The Green Party of England and Wales (GPEW; Welsh: Plaid Werdd Lloegr a Chymru), often known simply as the Green Party or the Greens, is a green, left-wing political party in England and Wales. Since September 2025, Zack Polanski has served as the party's leader. The party currently has four representatives in the House of Commons and two in the House of Lords, in addition to more than 890 councillors at the local government level and three members of the London Assembly.

The party's ideology combines environmentalism with left-wing economic policies, including well-funded and locally controlled public services. It advocates a steady-state economy with the regulation of capitalism, and supports proportional representation. It takes a progressive approach to social policies such as civil liberties, animal rights, LGBTQ rights and drug policy reform. The party also supports a universal basic income, a living wage and democratic participation. It has taken a pro-immigration stance. It is split into various regional divisions, including the semi-autonomous Wales Green Party and is internationally affiliated with the Global Greens and the European Green Party.
