Central Hungary (Hungarian: Közép-Magyarország pronounced [ˈkøzeːp ˈmɒɟɒrorsaːɡ]) is one of the eight statistical regions in Hungary (NUTS 1 and NUTS 2). It includes Pest County and since 2018 no longer includes Budapest, the capital of the region.

There are eight statistical regions of Hungary, These regions consist of the 19 Counties of Hungary and the capital city. There were seven regions created in 1999 by the Law 1999/XCII amending Law 1996/XXI but since 2018 the capital Budapest has left the Central Hungary region and become its own region.
- Northern Hungary includes the counties Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, Heves and Nógrád.
- Northern Great Plain includes the counties Hajdú-Bihar, Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok, and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg.
- Southern Great Plain includes the counties Bács-Kiskun, Békés and Csongrád-Csanád.
- Central Hungary includes the county of Pest.
- Budapest includes the capital Budapest.
- Central Transdanubia includes the counties Komárom-Esztergom, Fejér and Veszprém.
- Western Transdanubia includes the counties Győr-Moson-Sopron, Vas, Zala.
- Southern Transdanubia includes the counties Baranya, Somogy and Tolna.

Central Hungary in the context of Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences
The Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences is a university of technology in Hungary. Its headquarters and main campus are located about 30 kilometres from the capital, Budapest, in the Central Hungarian town of Gödöllő. Other campuses are based in Budapest, Békéscsaba, Gyula, Jászberény and Szarvas.
The university was established in 2000 from the merge of several previously independent institutions—the oldest of these being the former University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest, founded in 1787. (Note: In 2016, the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest regained its independence thus it is no longer part of the SZIU.) The Szent István University is named after Hungarian King Stephen I (the Saint). The current rector of the university is Dr. János Tőzsér.

Northern Hungary (Hungarian: Észak-Magyarország, Hungarian pronunciation: ['eːsɒk 'mɒɟɒrorsaːg]) is a region in Hungary. As a statistical region it includes the counties Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, Heves and Nógrád, but in colloquial speech it usually also refers to Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county. The region is in the north-eastern part of Hungary. It borders Slovakia to the north, the Northern Great Plain region of Hungary to the south-east, and the central region of Hungary to the south-west. The region's centre, largest, and capital city is Miskolc.

The Southern Great Plain (Hungarian: Dél-Alföld ['deːl 'ɒlføld]) is a statistical (NUTS 2) region of Hungary. It is part of Great Plain and North (NUTS 1) region. The Southern Great Plain includes the counties of Bács-Kiskun, Békés, and Csongrád-Csanád. The region is in the southern part of Hungary. It borders Central Hungary and the Northern Great Plain regions to the north, Romania to the east, Serbia to the south, and the Southern Transdanubia and Central Transdanubia regions to the west. The regional centre, and capital city is Szeged, the third largest city of Hungary.
