⭐ Core Definition: Warner Communications

Warner Media (previously named Time Warner) was an American multinational entertainment conglomerate. For the last four years of its existence, it was owned by AT&T. It was headquartered at the 30 Hudson Yards complex in New York City and its core businesses were in film, cable television, and streaming.

Time Warner was established on January 10, 1990, from the merger between Time Inc. and Warner Communications. After purchasing Turner Broadcasting System in 1996, Time Warner became the world’s largest media conglomerate, but its unsuccessful merger with AOL resulted in years-long corporate slimdown that culminated with Time Inc. being spun off on June 6, 2014. Despite Time no longer being a subsidiary, the Time Warner name continued to be used until June 14, 2018, when Time Warner was acquired by AT&T after a prolonged court battle and renamed to WarnerMedia.
