Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc., doing business as Columbia Pictures and formerly known as Columbia Pictures Corporation, is an American film production and distribution studio that is the flagship unit of the Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group, a division of Sony Pictures Entertainment, which is one of the "Big Five" film studios and a subsidiary of the Japanese conglomerate Sony Group Corporation. Columbia Pictures is one of the leading film studios in the world, and was one of the so-called "Little Three" among the eight major film studios of Hollywood's "Golden Age".

On June 19, 1918, brothers Jack and Harry Cohn and their business partner Joe Brandt founded the studio as Cohn-Brandt-Cohn (CBC) Film Sales Corporation. It adopted the Columbia Pictures name on January 10, 1924 (operating as Columbia Pictures Corporation until December 23, 1968), went public two years later, and eventually began to use the image of Columbia, the female personification of the United States, as its logo. The studio was acquired by The Coca-Cola Company in 1982, then by Sony Corporation of Japan in 1989. Columbia Pictures is presently headquartered at the Irving Thalberg Building on the former Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (currently known as the Sony Pictures Studios) lot in Culver City, California, since 1990.

The Longest Yard is a 2005 American sports comedy film directed by Peter Segal and written by Sheldon Turner. A remake of 1974's film of the same name, it stars Adam Sandler as a washed-up former professional American football quarterback who goes to prison and is forced to assemble a team to play against the guards. The film co-stars Chris Rock, James Cromwell, Nelly, William Fichtner, David Patrick Kelly, Tracy Morgan, Cloris Leachman, and Burt Reynolds, who played Sandler's role in the original.

It was released by Paramount Pictures in the United States and Canada, and Sony Pictures Releasing–under the Columbia Pictures label–in other territories on May 27, 2005, to mixed reviews from critics, but the film was a box office success by grossing $191.2 million on an $82 million budget.

Sony Pictures Imageworks Inc. (also known as Imageworks) is a Canadian-American visual effects and computer animation studio headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia and Montreal, Quebec, with an additional office on the Sony Pictures Studios lot in Culver City, California. SPI is a unit of Sony Pictures Entertainment's Motion Picture Group.

The company has been recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences winning the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects for their work on Spider-Man 2, as well as the Academy Award for Best Animated Film for Into the Spider-Verse and Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film for The ChubbChubbs!, having also received many other nominations for their work.
