The Metropolitan City of Sassari (Italian: Città metropolitana di Sassari; Sardinian: Tzitade metropolitana de Tàtari) is a metropolitan city in the autonomous island region of Sardinia in Italy. Its capital is Sassari, the second-largest city in Sardinia. The province was carved out from the former province of Sassari on April 16, 2021 and became functional on April 1, 2025. It has 312,555 inhabitants across its 66 municipalities.

The province of Gallura North-East Sardinia (Italian: Provincia della Gallura Nord-Est Sardegna; Sardinian: Provìntzia de Gaddura Nord-Est Sardigna) is a province in the autonomous island region of Sardinia in Italy. It has two capitals; Olbia and Tempio Pausania. The province was carved out from the former province of Sassari on April 16, 2021 and became functional on April 1, 2025. It has 159,098 inhabitants across its 26 municipalities.

The Ferrarese dialect (traditional orthography: dialèt frarés) refers to the indigenous Romance language that pre-dates the establishment of Italian, spoken by the native inhabitants of the city and environs of Ferrara, a city located in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy.

Ferrarese, in addition to Emilia-Romagna, is also spoken in the area of Fertilia, in the Sassari province of Sardinia, because a sizable community from Ferrara established itself in the area following a Mussolini-sponsored development program during Fascist Italy.
