The Southern Limestone Alps (Italian: Alpi Sud-orientali, German: Südliche Kalkalpen), also called the Southern Calcareous Alps, are the ranges of the Eastern Alps south of the Central Eastern Alps mainly located in northern Italy and the adjacent lands of Austria and Slovenia. The distinction from the Central Alps, where the higher peaks are located, is based on differences in geological composition. The Southern Limestone Alps extend from the Sobretta-Gavia range in Lombardy in the west to the Pohorje in Slovenia in the east.

The Drava Statistical Region (Slovene: podravska statistična regija) is a statistical region in Slovenia. The largest city in the region is Maribor. The region's name comes from the Drava River and includes land on both banks along its course through Slovenia as well as the Pohorje mountains in the northeast of the region. The Drava is used for the production of hydroelectricity and the fertile land around it is used for agriculture. The share of job vacancies in all available jobs is among the highest in Slovenia and the region has a positive net migration rate but a very high natural decrease, which means an overall decrease in the population.

The Hudinja (pronounced [xuˈdiːnja]) is a river in Styria, Slovenia. The river is 32 kilometres (20 mi) in length. Its source is on the Pohorje Massif southwest of Mount Rogla, about 1,380 metres (4,530 ft) above sea level, near the source of Dravinja River. The river passes Vitanje, Socka Castle, Vojnik, and Celje, where it flows into the Voglajna. A district of Celje also named Hudinja lies on the river.
