Piraeus–Platy railway in the context of "Pydna"

Amfikleia (Greek: Αμφίκλεια, before 1915: Δαδί - Dadi) is a town and a former municipality in Phthiotis, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Amfikleia-Elateia, of which it is a municipal unit.The municipal unit has an area of 229.366 km, the community 108.124 km. At the 2021 census, the population of the municipal unit was 2,996 and of the community 2,157. The town is situated at the northern foot of Mount Parnassus, in the valley of the river Cephissus. It is 11 km northwest of Kato Tithorea and 31 km southeast of Lamia. Greek National Road 3 (Thebes - Lamia) passes through the town. The town is served by a railway station with connections on the Athens–Thessaloniki railway.

The railway from Piraeus to Patras was a 230-kilometre-long (140 mi) metre-gauge railway line in Greece that connected the port of Athens, Piraeus with Patras in the Peloponnese peninsula, via Athens "Peloponnese" central station and Corinth. It was opened between 1884 and 1887. Formerly one of the main lines of the Greek railway network, it has now largely fallen into disuse. It has mostly been replaced by the Athens Airport–Patras railway, a new standard-gauge line whose first section opened in 2004 and which remains under construction between Aigio and Patras. The 13 km (8.1 mi) section between Piraeus and Agioi Anargyroi, a northern suburb of Athens, has since been removed and replaced by the corresponding section of the upgraded Piraeus–Platy railway. As of 2020, the only sections in operation are the 22.5 km (14.0 mi) section between Agioi Anargyroi and Eleusis, and the 7.3 km (4.5 mi) section between Rio and Patras.

Afidnes (Greek: Αφίδνες, Ancient Greek: Ἄφιδνα or Ἀφίδναι, from the Middle Ages until 1919: Κιούρκα - Kiourka) is a small town in East Attica, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Oropos, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 34.638 km. It is situated in the eastern foothills of the Parnitha mountains, 3 km southwest of Polydendri, 5 km southeast of Malakasa and 27 km north of Athens city centre. Afidnes has a station on the railway from Athens to Thessaloniki. The A1 motorway (Athens - Lamia - Thessaloniki) passes east of the town. It is part of Athens metropolitan area.

Ancient Aphidna was one of the twelve ancient towns of Attica. In Greek mythology, Aphidna was the place where Theseus left Helen after he had abducted her. The archaeological site of Aphidnae is small. It was excavated in the 19th century. 13 Middle Helladic tumuli have been found.

Platy railway station (Greek: Σιδηροδρομικός σταθμός Πλατέος, romanized: Sidirodromikós stathmós Platéos) is the railway station of Platy in Imathia, Central Macedonia, Greece. Opened in 1894 in what was then the Ottoman Empire, it is located southwest of the residential area, at the junction of the Piraeus–Platy railway and Thessaloniki–Bitola railway 1.3 kilometres (0.81 mi) southwest of the town centre. The station is served by Intercity trains between Athens and Thessaloniki and since 9 September 2007 by the Thessaloniki Regional Railway (formerly the Suburban Railway).

The Acharnes Railway Center (Greek: Σιδηροδρομικό Κέντρο Αχαρνών) or SKA is a two-level railway station in the northern parts of the Athens agglomeration, in the suburb of Acharnes, where several important railway lines converge. It is an important passenger interchange station linking The main Piraeus–Platy railway line from Athens Central to Thessaloniki and the Athens Airport–Patras railway. The station opened in April 2011.
