His Majesty's Paymaster General or HM Paymaster General is a ministerial position in the Cabinet Office of the United Kingdom. The position is currently held by Nick Thomas-Symonds of the Labour Party.

Thomas Babington Macaulay, 1st Baron Macaulay, PC, FRS, FRSE (/ˈbæbɪŋtən məˈkɔːli/; 25 October 1800 – 28 December 1859) was a British historian, poet and Whig politician who served as the Secretary at War between 1839 and 1841, and as the Paymaster General between 1846 and 1848. He is best known for his The History of England, a seminal example of Whig history which expressed Macaulay's belief in the inevitability of sociopolitical progress and has been widely commended for its prose style. Macaulay also played a substantial role in determining India's education policy.

Paymaster General in the context of Minister for the Olympics
The Minister for the Olympics was a position within the United Kingdom Government created on 6 July 2005 as a result of the selection of London to host the 2012 Summer Olympics. It was merged into the position of Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport in May 2010.
Tessa Jowell was the Minister for the entirety of the office's existence. At the time the position was created, she was Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, and she held both roles until the resignation of Tony Blair. In Gordon Brown's cabinet, she continued as Minister for the Olympics, but held the portfolios of Minister for the Cabinet Office and Paymaster General from June 2009 until 11 May 2010, when the Labour government lost the 2010 general election.

In the United Kingdom, a minister without portfolio is often a cabinet position, or often attends cabinet. The role is sometimes used to enable the chairman of the governing party, contemporarily either the chairman of the Conservative Party or the chair of the Labour Party, to attend cabinet meetings. (If so, they hold the title of "Party chairman".) The sinecure positions of Lord Privy Seal, Paymaster General, and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster which have few responsibilities and have a higher rank in the order of precedence than minister without portfolio can also be used to similar effect. Anna Turley was appointed as minister without portfolio, replacing Ellie Reeves, in the 2025 British cabinet reshuffle.
