The Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) is a federal program sponsored by the United States Armed Forces in high schools and also in some middle schools across the United States and at US military bases across the world. The program was originally created as part of the National Defense Act of 1916 and later expanded under the 1964 ROTC Vitalization Act.

The Meadowlands Sports Complex is a sports complex located in East Rutherford, New Jersey, United States. The facility is owned and operated by the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority (NJSEA). It is named for the New Jersey Meadowlands, upon which it was built.

The complex currently consists of MetLife Stadium, which is home to the New York Giants and New York Jets of the National Football League; the Meadowlands Racetrack, a famous harness racing circuit (which is home of the annual Hambletonian Stakes); and the Quest Diagnostics Training Center, which is the Giants' practice facility.

The 2013 NFL season was the 94th season in the history of the National Football League (NFL) and the 48th of the Super Bowl era. The season saw the Seattle Seahawks capture the first championship in the franchise's 38 years in the league with a lopsided victory over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII, the league's championship game. The Super Bowl was played at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Sunday, February 2, 2014. It was the first Super Bowl hosted by New Jersey and the first to be held outdoors in a cold weather environment. The Seahawks scored 12 seconds into the game and led the rest of the way on the back of their Legion of Boom defense. The Seahawks ultimately defeated the Broncos 43–8.

Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was named the regular season's Most Valuable Player (MVP) by the voters of the Associated Press (AP) for a record fifth time after compiling passing stats including regular-season records for passing yards and passing touchdowns. Manning also was named the Offensive Player of the Year for the second time in his career. Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly earned Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Although the NFL has 32 teams, there are only 30 full-time NFL stadiums, as the New York Giants and New York Jets share MetLife Stadium, and the Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams share SoFi Stadium.

The newest full-time NFL stadiums are SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, and Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada, home of the Las Vegas Raiders. Both stadiums opened for the 2020 season. Soldier Field in Chicago is the oldest, having opened in 1924; however, the Bears did not play at Soldier Field until 1971 and did not play there in 2002 while the stadium was under reconstruction, and thus the oldest continuously operating stadium in the NFL is Lambeau Field, hosting the Green Bay Packers since its opening in 1957.
