Tom Dardis (1926 – November 2, 2001) was an American author and editor. He served as editor for multiple publishing houses such as Avon Books and Berkley Publishing Corporation. Dardis was also an educator who taught at such institutions as Adelphi University and the John Jay College of Criminal Justice of the City University of New York.

Alain Bauer (born 8 May 1962) is a French criminologist who has been a professor of criminology at the Conservatoire national des arts et métiers (CNAM Paris) since 2009. He is also a senior research fellow at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice (New York) and the China University of Political Science and Law (Beijing). There were many protests in the scientific community in France against the appointment because he had not received a PhD.

Gerald W. Lynch (March 24, 1937 – April 17, 2013) was the third president of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, the only institution of higher education in the United States dedicated primarily to the study of criminal justice, law enforcement, police science, and public service. He served as president for 28 years, from 1976 to 2004.
He first joined the John Jay faculty in 1967 as associate professor of psychology and Director of Student Activities, then served as acting president in 1975 upon President Donald Riddle's resignation.
