Gjepalaj is a village and a former municipality in the Durrës County, western Albania. During the 2015 local government reform, it became a subdivision of the municipality Shijak. The population at the 2011 census was 3,449.

Shijak (Albanian definite form: Shijaku) is a town and a municipality in Durrës County, west-central Albania. The municipality was formed at the 2015 local government reform by the merger of the former municipalities Gjepalaj, Maminas, Shijak and Xhafzotaj, that became municipal units. The seat of the municipality is the town Shijak. The total population is 27,861 (2011 census), in a total area of 92.24 km. The population of the former municipality at the 2011 census was 7,568.
