Denpasar (Indonesian pronunciation: [denˈpasar]; Balinese: ᬤᬾᬦ᭄ᬧᬲᬃ, Dénpasar) is the capital and the largest city of the province of Bali, Indonesia.Denpasar is the largest city in the Lesser Sunda Islands and the second largest city in Eastern Indonesia after Makassar. It is bordered by Badung Regency to its west, Gianyar Regency to its east, and the Indian Ocean and the Badung Strait to its south. The growth of the tourism industry on the island of Bali has pushed the city of Denpasar to become a center of business activities, and has positioned the city as an area with high per capita income and growth in Bali. The population of the City at the end of 2024 was 670,210.

Denpasar is the main gateway to the Bali island, the city is also a hub for other cities in the Lesser Sunda Islands.

The Denpasar metropolitan area or Greater Denpasar, and locally known as Sarbagita; (an acronym of Denpasar–Badung–Gianyar–Tabanan) is a metropolitan area located in Bali, Indonesia. This area includes Denpasar city and its surrounding areas such as Badung Regency, Gianyar Regency, and Tabanan Regency. Sarbagita is the largest metropolitan area in the Lesser Sunda Islands and the second largest in the Eastern Indonesia region after the Makassar metropolitan area in South Sulawesi. It has an area of 1,928.28 km, and at the 2023 estimate had a population of 2,301,887.

Ubud (Balinese: ᬉᬩᬸᬤ᭄) is a town in the Gianyar Regency of Bali, Indonesia. Ubud has no status, that is part of the eponymous Ubud District of Gianyar. Promoted as an arts and culture centre, Ubud has developed a large tourism industry. It forms a northern part of the Greater Denpasar metropolitan area (known as Sarbagita).

Ubud is an administrative district (kecamatan) with a population of 74,800 (as of the 2020 Census) in an area of 42.38 km. The central area of Ubud desa (village) has a population of 11,971 and an area of 6.76 km, and receives more than three million foreign tourists each year. The area surrounding the town is made up of farms, rice paddies, agroforestry plantations, and tourist accommodations. As of 2018, more tourists visited Ubud than Denpasar to the south.

Bangli Regency (Indonesian: Kabupaten Bangli; Balinese: ᬓᬪᬹᬧᬢᬾ​ᬦ᭄ ᬩᬗ᭄ᬮᬶ, Kabupatén Bangli) is the one and only landlocked regency (kabupaten) of the province of Bali, Indonesia. It covers a land area of 520.80 km, and had a population of 259,392 in 2024. It is bordered by Badung Regency to its west, Gianyar Regency to its west and south, Buleleng Regency to its west and north, Karangasem Regency to its east and Klungkung Regency to its south. The administrative centre is at the town of Bangli.

Up until 1907, Bangli was one of the nine kingdoms of Bali. The capital has a famous Hindu temple, the Kehen Temple, which dates from the 11th century. Bangli also has one village which surrounds a hill, Demulih.

Klungkung Regency (Indonesian: Kabupaten Klungkung; Balinese: ᬓᬩᬸᬧᬢᬾᬦ᭄ᬓ᭄ᬮᬸᬂᬓᬸᬂ, Kabupatén Klungkung) is the smallest regency (kabupaten) in the province of Bali, Indonesia. It has an area of 315 km and had a population at the 2024 census of 223,720. It is bordered by Bangli Regency to its north, Gianyar Regency to its west, Karangasem Regency and the Lombok Strait to its east, and the Badung Strait and the Indian Ocean to its south. Its regency seat is the town of Semarapura.

The official estimate as at mid 2024 was 223,720 (107,177 males 106,815 and females in 2022).

Ubud District (Indonesian: Kecamatan Ubud) is a district (kecamatan) in Gianyar Regency, Bali, Indonesia. Its area is 42.38 km and the population was 69,323 people as of 2010 census; the latest official estimate (as at mid 2019) is 74,320. but at any given time there are large numbers of temporary residents and tourists.

Neighboring districts are: Tegallalang and Payangan districts to the north, Tampaksiring district to the north-east, Sukawati district to the south, all four within Gianyar Regency, and Abiansemal district of Badung Regency to the West.
