European route E18 runs between Craigavon in Northern Ireland and Saint Petersburg in Russia, passing through Scotland, England, Norway, Sweden and Finland. It is about 1,890 kilometres (1,170 miles) in length.
Although the designation implies the possibility of a through journey, this is no longer practical as there are no direct car ferry crossings between the United Kingdom and Norway.
Frier or Frierfjord is a fjord in Telemark county, Norway. The 14-kilometre (8.7 mi) long fjord is located along the Skaggerak coast in the traditional district of Grenland and it forms the border with the municipalities of Bamble, Skien, and Porsgrunn. The fjord is actually an inner arm of the Langesundsfjord, and historically (well into the 1700s) this fjord was also known as the Langesundsfjord. The fjord stretches from the opening to Langesundsfjord in the south to the mouth of the Porsgrunn River in the north. The much smaller fjord of Gunneklevfjord opens into the Porsgrunn/Skien River and is separated from Frierfjorden by the peninsula of Herøya.
The Frierfjorden narrows to a width of about 300 metres (980 ft) at Breviksstrømmen, the mouth of the fjord, where the town of Brevik sits on the northern side and the town of Stathelle lies on the southern side. The Brevik Bridge crosses Breviksstrømmen between the two towns. A little further into the fjord the newer Grenland Bridge crosses the fjord, carrying the European route E18 highway across Norway's highest cable stayed bridge.

The town of Skien lies immediately to the north of the town of Porsgrunn. The town of Brevik lies about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) to the south of Porsgrunn, just north of Heistad. The European route E18 highway passes through the southern part of the town of Porsgrunn.
The town is part of the Porsgrunn/Skien metropolitan area, so Statistics Norway does not track the population of the town separately. The portion of the urban area within Porsgrunn Municipality is 20.99-square-kilometre (5,190-acre) and it has a population (2022) of 34,291 with a population density of 1,634 inhabitants per square kilometre (4,230/sq mi).
The International E-road network is a numbering system for roads in Europe, Central Asia and Asia Minor, developed by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). The network is numbered from E1 up and signposted on a green background. Its roads cross national borders, consisting of three types of roads: highways, limited access roads, and ordinary roads (as defined by ECE/TRANS/SC.1/2016/3/Rev.1).
The display of European roads on signs depend on jurisdiction. In most countries, the roads carry the European route designation alongside national designations. However, Belgium, Denmark, Norway and Sweden have integrated them as their sole route designations (examples: E18 and E6) in most cases. Some places, such as the United Kingdom and Albania do not show the European designations at all.

The population density is31.65 inhabitants per square kilometre (82.0/sq mi). The population of the central town is approximately 10,000. The municipal language of Hamina is Finnish.
Highway 7 (E18) is the town's road connection to Helsinki, after it was upgraded to a continuous motorway in September 2014. Hamina is also the base of one of the most important harbors of Finland, the Port of Hamina-Kotka. The port specializes in forest products and the transit of cargo to Russia. One of Google's five European data centers is situated in Hamina.
Söderkulla (Swedish pronunciation: [ˈsøːdərˌkulːɑ]; literally meaning the "south hill") is a village in the southern part of the Sipoo municipality in Uusimaa, Finland. It is located along the Regional road 170 and the Porvoo Highway (E18), and about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) north of Söderkulla is Nikkilä, the administrative center of Sipoo. The distance to the center of Helsinki from Söderkulla is about 30 kilometres (19 mi) and to the center of Porvoo about 24 kilometres (15 mi). Söderkulla has one of Sipoo's significant growth centers alongside Nikkilä; at the end of 2017, Söderkulla had a population of 3,782. In the zoning, the construction of the municipality will continue to be emphasized in these areas. Among other things, the construction of a 3,000 square meter shopping center has been approved near the center of Söderkulla.
Söderkulla has comprehensive basic services. A few hundred meters apart are a health center, a dental clinic, Alko, a pharmacy, the Linda's service center for the elderly, a gym, R-kioski, a library, three grocery stores (such as K-Supermarket), a kindergarten and the South Sipoo School. In connection with primary school, there is also a Swedish-language Söderkulla skolan. In 2018, Söderkulla Church, designed by Juhani Aalto, was completed in Söderkulla and also as a parish center with study rooms, club rooms and a youth center. The church is used by both the Finnish and Swedish parishes in Sipoo. The building utilizes geothermal and solar energy.
Sandar (or historically Sandeherred) is a former municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. The 120-square-kilometre (46 sq mi) municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1968. The area is now part of Sandefjord Municipality. The administrative centre was located at Sandar, right by the Sandar Church in what is now the town of Sandefjord.
Sandar was located in the southern, coastal part of Vestfold county. The European route E18 highway and the Vestfoldbanen railway line both passed through the municipality. The municipality encircled the whole town of Sandefjord until 1968 when they were merged.
