Chitpavan Brahmins in the context of Bhat family

The Bhatt Peshwa family earlier known as Bhatt family is a prominent Indian Marathi Chitpavan Brahmin family. Most of the members in this family were the Peshwas (prime ministers) in the Maratha Empire, and Peshwa later became their family name. In the eighteenth century, most of the Indian subcontinent came under their control.
