👉 Canonical Hours in the context of Office of the Dead

The Office of the Dead or Office for the Dead (in Latin, Officium Defunctorum) is a prayer cycle of the Canonical Hours in the Catholic Church, Anglican Church and Lutheran Church, said for the repose of the soul of a decedent. It is the proper reading on All Souls' Day (normally November 2) for all departed souls, and can be a votive office on other days when said for a particular decedent. The work is composed of different psalms, scripture, prayers and other parts, divided into The Office of Readings, Lauds, Daytime Prayer, Vespers and Compline.

Canonical Hours in the context of List of Eastern Orthodox saint titles

The saints of the Eastern Orthodox Church (and of the Eastern Catholic Churches of the Byzantine Rite) have various customary saint titles with which they are commemorated on the liturgical calendar and in Divine Services.

Many of the titles can overlap with each other (e.g. apostle and disciple) or are at least not mutually exclusive. Some of them are, however, mutually exclusive (e.g. prophet and righteous). Some titles are only given to one saint, very often the Virgin Mary, and some titles are also no longer given to saints (e.g. apostle).

Canonical Hours in the context of Menaion

The Menaion (Koine Greek: Μηναῖον, romanized: Mēnaîon, pronounced [miˈne.on], pl. Μηναῖα, Mēnaîa, [miˈne.a]; Church Slavonic: Минїѧ, romanized: Miníyę, lit. 'of the month') is the liturgical book used by the Eastern Orthodox Church and Eastern Catholic Churches which follow the Byzantine Rite, containing the propers for fixed dates of the calendar year, i.e. entities not dependent on the date of Easter.

The Menaion is the largest volume of the propers for the Byzantine Rite and is used at nearly all the daily services.
