Campobasso in the context of "Molise"

The province of Campobasso (Italian: provincia di Campobasso; Molisan dialect: pruìnge de Cambuàsce) is a province in the Molise region of Italy. Its capital is the city of Campobasso. It covers an area of c. 2,941 square kilometres (1,136 sq mi) and has a total population of 223,871 (2017). There are 84 comuni (sg.: comune) in the province.

The eastern part of the province is home to a small Croatian minority who speak an archaic dialect of Croatian. The Croatians reside primarily in Acquaviva Collecroce, San Felice and Montemitro.

The University of Molise (Italian: Università degli Studi del Molise), also known as UNIMOL, is an Italian public university located in Campobasso, Italy. It was founded in 1982 by the Law n.590 according to the plan for the development and institution of new universities; the campuses of this university are all set in the region of Molise and they are: in Campobasso (Headquarter), Pesche and Termoli.

The Archdiocese of Campobasso-Boiano (Latin: Archidioecesis Campobassensis-Boianensis) is a Latin Church archdiocese of the Catholic Church in the commune of Campobasso, the capital of the province of Campobasso, in the region of Molise in Southern Italy. It became an archdiocese in 1973 and a metropolitan see in 1976.

In 1927, the episcopal seat and residence of the bishop of the diocese of Boiano was transferred to Campobasso, and the diocese was renamed diocese of Boiano-Campobasso. It was suffragan (subordinate) ecclesiastically to the archdiocese of Benevento.
