Portoscuso (Sardinian: Portescusi) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Sulcis Iglesiente in the Italian region Sardinia, located about 75 kilometres (47Â mi) west of Cagliari and about 14 kilometres (9Â mi) northwest of Carbonia. The languages used here are Italian and Sardinian Campidanese.
Portoscuso borders the following municipalities: Carbonia, Gonnesa, and San Giovanni Suergiu.
Logudorese Sardinian (Sardinian: sardu logudoresu, Italian: sardo logudorese) is one of the two written standards of the Sardinian language, which is often considered one of the most, if not the most conservative of all Romance languages. The orthography is based on the spoken dialects of central northern Sardinia, identified by certain attributes which are not found, or found to a lesser degree, among the Sardinian dialects centered on the other written form, Campidanese. Su Nuraxi is a Nuragic archaeological site in Barumini, Sardinia, Italy. Su Nuraxi simply means "The Nuraghe" in Campidanese, the southern variant of the Sardinian language.
Su Nuraxi is a settlement consisting of a seventeenth century BC nuraghe, a bastion of four corner towers plus a central one, and a village inhabited from the thirteenth to the sixth century BC, developed around the nuraghe. They are considered by scholars the most impressive expression of the nuragic civilization and were included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1997 as Su Nuraxi di Barumini.
