Brăila (/brəˈiːlə/, also US: /-lɑː/, Romanian: [brəˈila] ) is a city in Muntenia, eastern Romania, a port on the Danube and the capital of Brăila County. The Sud-Est Regional Development Agency is headquartered in the city.
According to the 2021 Romanian census, Brăila had a population of 154,686 inhabitants, making it the 11th most populous city in Romania and the 9th largest on the Danube. The city’s current mayor is Viorel Marian Dragomir of the PSD.
