Altai Krai (Russian: Алта́йский ΠΊΡ€Π°ΠΉ, romanized:Β Altayskiy kray, [ɐlˈtajskΚ²Ιͺj kraj]) is a federal subject of Russia (a krai). It borders, clockwise from the west, Kazakhstan (East Kazakhstan Region, Abai Region and Pavlodar Region), Novosibirsk and Kemerovo, and the Altai Republic. The krai's administrative centre is the city of Barnaul. As of the 2021 Census, the population of the krai was 2,163,693.

Nikolai Mikhailovich Yadrintsev (Russian: Николай ΠœΠΈΡ…Π°ΠΉΠ»ΠΎΠ²ΠΈΡ‡ Π―Π΄Ρ€ΠΈΠ½Ρ†Π΅Π²; October 18, 1842, Omsk – June 7, 1894, Barnaul) was a Russian public figure, explorer, archaeologist, and Turkologist. His discoveries include the Orkhon script, Genghis Khan's capital, Karakorum and Ordu-Baliq, the capital of the Uyghur Khaganate. He was also one of the founding figures of Siberian regionalism.
