Southern Transdanubia (Hungarian: Dél-Dunántúl ['deːl ˈdunaːntuːl]) is a subdivision of Hungary as defined by the Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics (NUTS). It is one of the eight classified NUTS-2 statistical regions of Hungary. The region incorporates the south-western parts of the country, and encompasses an area of 14,197 km (5,481 sq mi). It incorporates three counties –Somogy, Tolna, and Baranya. With a population of just over 0.85 million, it is the least populated of the all the regions in Hungary. The seat of the region and the largest city is Pécs.

Somogy (Hungarian: Somogy vármegye, pronounced [ˈʃomoɟ]; Croatian: Šomođska županija; Slovene: Šomodska županija, German: Komitat Schomodei) is an administrative county (comitatus or vármegye) in present Hungary, and also in the former Kingdom of Hungary.

Somogy County lies in south-western Hungary, on the border with Croatia's Koprivnica-Križevci and Virovitica-Podravina counties. It stretches between the river Dráva and the southern shore of Lake Balaton. It shares borders with the Hungarian counties of Zala, Veszprém, Fejér, Tolna, and Baranya. Somogy is the most sparsely populated county in Hungary. The county capital is Kaposvár. Its area is 6,036 km.

Tolna (Hungarian: Tolna vármegye, pronounced [ˈtolnɒ]; German: Komitat Tolnau) is an administrative county (comitatus or vármegye) in present-day Hungary as it was in the former Kingdom of Hungary. It lies in central Hungary, on the west bank of the river Danube. It shares borders with the Hungarian counties of Somogy, Fejér, Bács-Kiskun, and Baranya. The capital of Tolna county is Szekszárd. Its area is 3,703 km.
