The Diocese of Szeged–Csanád (Latin: Dioecesis Szegediensis–Csanadiensis) is a Latin Church diocese of the Catholic Church located in the cities of Szeged and Csanád in the ecclesiastical province of Kalocsa-Kecskemét in Hungary.
The diocesan cathedral is the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Hungarians in Szeged. The Co-Cathedral of St. Anthony of Padua is based in Békéscsaba.
The Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences is a university of technology in Hungary. Its headquarters and main campus are located about 30 kilometres from the capital, Budapest, in the Central Hungarian town of Gödöllő. Other campuses are based in Budapest, Békéscsaba, Gyula, Jászberény and Szarvas.
The university was established in 2000 from the merge of several previously independent institutions—the oldest of these being the former University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest, founded in 1787. (Note: In 2016, the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest regained its independence thus it is no longer part of the SZIU.) The Szent István University is named after Hungarian King Stephen I (the Saint). The current rector of the university is Dr. János Tőzsér.

Alongside Kiskunság, it is a part of Great Alföld, however today, the denomination is mostly restricted to the area with an extent only to the present border with Romania.
It is mainly a flat area, being part of the Great Hungarian Plain. The area is divided by the tributaries of the Tisza: the Körös and Maros rivers. The largest city of the area is Debrecen, other county capitals being Nyíregyháza and Békéscsaba.
