Greater St. Louis is the 23rd-largest metropolitan statistical area (MSA) in the United States consisting with an MSA population more than 2.8 million, and almost 3 million CSA the largest in Missouri, and the second-largest in Illinois. Its core city—St. Louis, Missouri—sits in the geographic center of the metro area, on the west bank of the Mississippi River. The river bisects the metro area geographically between Illinois and Missouri, although the latter portion is much more populous. Warrenton is a city in and the county seat of Warren County, Missouri, United States. The population was 7,880 according to the 2010 Census. Warrenton is an exurb of St. Louis, and is located in the St. Louis Metropolitan Statistical Area. Warrenton's slogan is "A City for All Seasons."

Marthasville is a city in Warren County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,136 at the 2010 census. The Katy Trail, a 240-mile long bike path, passes through Marthasville.

The original graves of Daniel Boone and his wife were located near there. In 1845, Boone's remains were disinterred and moved to Kentucky for burial. Resentment in Missouri about the disinterment grew over the years, and a legend arose that Boone's remains never left Missouri.
