University of Bradford in the context of "Bradford"

Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon (born 26 November 1952) is a South Sudanese politician who has served as the vice president of South Sudan on several occasions, most recently as the first vice president, since 2020.

A member of the Nuer ethnic group, Machar earned degrees in engineering from Khartoum University and the University of Bradford. In 1984, he joined the Sudanese People's Liberation Army/Movement (SPLM/A) rebel group fighting for southern independence during the Second Sudanese Civil War.

Reconciliation (originally named Reunion) is a sculpture by Josefina de Vasconcellos.

Originally created in 1977 and entitled Reunion, it depicted a man and woman embracing each other. In May 1998 it was presented to University of Bradford as a memorial to the university's first vice-chancellor, Professor Ted Edwards. De Vasconcellos said:

Josefina Alys Hermes de Vasconcellos (26 October 1904 – 20 July 2005) was an English sculptor who worked in bronze, stone, wood, lead and perspex. She was at one time the world's oldest living sculptor. She lived in Little Langdale, Cumbria, much of her working life. Her most famous work includes Reconciliation (Coventry Cathedral, University of Bradford); Holy Family (Liverpool Cathedral, Gloucester Cathedral); Mary and Child (St Paul's Cathedral); and Nativity (at Christmas) at St Martin-in-the-Fields (Trafalgar Square).

The Department of Peace Studies is an academic department established in 1973 at the University of Bradford in Bradford, United Kingdom. It was the first peace studies department established in any British university. As of 2018, it claimed to be the world's largest university research centre for the study of peace and conflict. Activities of the centre include studies of peace processes, international relations, security studies, conflict resolution, development and teaching in these fields.
