Terres de l'Ebre in the context of "Ponent"

The Ebro (Spanish and Basque [ˈeβɾo] ; Catalan: Ebre, Western: [ˈeβɾe], Eastern: [ˈeβɾə]) is a river of the north and northeast of the Iberian Peninsula, in Spain. It rises in Cantabria and flows 930 kilometres (580 mi), almost entirely in an east-southeast direction. It flows into the Mediterranean Sea, forming a delta in the Terres de l'Ebre region, in southern Catalonia. In the Iberian peninsula, it ranks second in length after the Tagus and second in discharge volume, and drainage basin, after the Douro. It is the longest river entirely within Spain; the other two mentioned flow into Portugal.

The Ebro flows through many cities (Spanish: ciudades): Reinosa in Cantabria; Frías and Miranda de Ebro in Castile and León; Haro, Logroño, Calahorra, and Alfaro in La Rioja; Tudela in Navarre; Alagón, Utebo, and Zaragoza in Aragon; and Flix, Móra d'Ebre, Benifallet, Tivenys, Xerta, Aldover, Tortosa, and Amposta in the province of Tarragona (Catalonia).

Camp de Tarragona (Catalan pronunciation: [ˈkam də tərəˈɣonə]) is a natural and historical region, as well as one of the nine regions (vegueries) of Catalonia. It is the third most populated region, with 536,453 inhabitants as of 2022.

The region includes the counties of Tarragonès, Alt Camp, Baix Camp, Conca de Barberà and Priorat. It borders to the east with Penedès and Central Catalonia, to the north with Ponent and to the west with Terres de l'Ebre.

Baix Ebre (Western Catalan: [ˈbaʃ ˈeβɾe], "Lower Ebro") is a comarca (county) on the coast in southern Catalonia. It is located in the region of Terres de l'Ebre, and its capital is Tortosa.

Montsià (Western Catalan: [monsiˈa]) is a comarca (county) of the Terres de l'Ebre region, in Catalonia (Spain). It is the southernmost comarca and its capital and largest city is Amposta.

Terra Alta (Western Catalan: [ˈtɛra ˈalta]) is a sparsely populated inland comarca (county) in Terres de l'Ebre, Catalonia (Spain). Its capital is Gandesa. It is also known as Castellania, a name dating back to its medieval status as a fiefdom held by the Order of Knights of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem under the Crown of Aragon.

Ribera d'Ebre (Western Catalan: [riˈβeɾa ˈðeβɾe]) is a comarca (county) in Catalonia, Spain. It extends to both sides of the Ebre river between the reservoir of Riba-roja and Miravet. It belongs to the Terres de l'Ebre region and its capital is Móra d'Ebre.
