Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia in the context of West Jersey

La Salle College High School is a Catholic, all-male college preparatory school located in Wyndmoor, a community in Springfield Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States. La Salle is within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and is located roughly 10 miles northwest of Center City. The school is staffed by a lay faculty and the Christian Brothers. Its sports teams compete in the Philadelphia Catholic League and the PIAA’s twelfth district.

A grand jury investigation of Catholic Church sexual abuse in Pennsylvania lasted from 2016 to 2018, and investigated the history of clerical sexual abuse in six Pennsylvania dioceses.

This investigation focused on sexual abuse by Catholic clergy in six of the eight Pennsylvania dioceses – Allentown, Scranton, Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, Greensburg, and Erie. The Archdiocese of Philadelphia and Diocese of Altoona–Johnstown were not included, as they had been the subjects of earlier investigations.

The diocese was established on May 30, 1901, as the Diocese of Altoona. On October 9, 1957, its name was changed to the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown.

The mother church of the Diocese of Allentown is the Cathedral Church of Saint Catharine of Siena in Allentown. The bishop is Alfred A. Schlert.

The Diocese of Allentown covers Berks, Carbon, Lehigh, Northampton and Schuylkill counties. As of 2025, the diocese had a registered population of 205,000 served by 78 parishes.

It is a suffragan diocese of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Philadelphia. The mother church is St. Patrick's Cathedral in Harrisburg. The bishop is Timothy C. Senior.

The Diocese of Erie (Latin: Dioecesis Eriensis) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory, or diocese, of the Catholic Church in western Pennsylvania in the United States. It is a suffragan diocese of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

The Diocese of Erie was founded on July 29, 1853. Its mother church is St. Peter's Cathedral in Erie.
