In telecommunications, a repeater is an electronic device that receives a signal and retransmits it. Repeaters are used to extend transmissions so that the signal can cover longer distances or be received on the other side of an obstruction. Some types of repeaters broadcast an identical signal, but alter its method of transmission, for example, on another frequency or baud rate.

There are several different types of repeaters; a telephone repeater is an amplifier in a telephone line, an optical repeater is an optoelectronic circuit that amplifies the light beam in an optical fiber cable; and a radio repeater is a radio receiver and transmitter that retransmits a radio signal.

A broadcast relay station, also known as a satellite station, relay transmitter, broadcast translator (U.S.), re-broadcaster (Canada), repeater (two-way radio) or complementary station (Mexico), is a broadcast transmitter which repeats (or transponds) the signal of a radio or television station to an area not covered by the originating station.

These expand the broadcast range of a television or radio station beyond the primary signal's original coverage or improves service in the original coverage area. The stations may be (but are not usually) used to create a single-frequency network. They may also be used by an AM or FM radio station to establish a presence on the other band.

Project 25 (P25 or APCO-25) is a suite of standards for interoperable Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems designed primarily for public safety users. The standards allow analog conventional, digital conventional, digital trunked, or mixed-mode systems. P25 was originally developed for public safety users in the United States but has also gained acceptance for security, public service, and some commercial applications worldwide. P25 radios are a replacement for analog UHF (typically FM) radios, adding the ability to transfer data as well as voice for more natural implementations of encryption and text messaging. P25 radios are commonly implemented by dispatch organizations, such as police, fire, ambulance and emergency rescue service, using vehicle-mounted radios combined with repeaters and handheld walkie-talkie use.

Starting around 2012, products became available with the newer Phase II modulation protocol. The older protocol known as P25 became P25 Phase I. P25 Phase II (or P25II) products use the more advanced AMBE2+ vocoder, which allows audio to pass through a more compressed bitstream and provides two TDMA voice channels in the same RF bandwidth (12.5 kHz), while Phase I can provide only one voice channel. However, P25 Phase II infrastructure can provide a "dynamic transcoder" feature that translates between Phase I and Phase II as needed. In addition to this, Phase II radios are backwards compatible with Phase I modulation and analog FM modulation, per the standard. (Phase I radios cannot operate on Phase II trunked systems. However, Phase II radios can operate on Phase I systems or conventional systems.) The European Union (EU) has created the Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) and Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) protocol standards, which fill a similar role to Project 25.

Drones find application in a variety of military operations, including electronic warfare, explosive ordnance disposal, training and logistics support. However, they are most frequently employed in intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance (ISTAR) missions, enabling direct attacks on targets as part of a kill chain or through manned-unmanned teaming. Aerial drone attacks can be executed through the use of purpose-built UCAVs, that deploy ordnance during a drone strike, or by weaponized commercial UAVs that drop munitions or engage aerial assault. Heavy-lift drones may also be used to airlift supplies or evacuation of wounded personnel across a battlefield. Smaller drones, such as SUAVs and MAVs, are man-portable and can be deployed for low-altitude, short-range support operations. Multiple drones can operate and attack simultaneously in a drone swarm and autonomous drones, such as LAWs, utilize military AI.
