Rawalpindi is a tehsil – an administrative subdivision – of Rawalpindi District in the western part of the Punjab province, Pakistan. It contains the district capital – the city of Rawalpindi.

The Taxila Tehsil, with its administrative centre in Taxila, is one of the eight sub-districts of the Rawalpindi District in the province of Punjab, Pakistan. It is neighboured by the Attock District to the west, Rawalpindi Tehsil to the south, the Islamabad Capital Territory to the east, and Haripur District to the north-east.
The area was part of the ancient Gandhara region. Taxila was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1980 and is located in the town of Taxila.
