Phoebe (mythological characters) in the context of Leucippus of Messenia

In Greek mythology, Atlanteia or Atlantia (Ancient Greek: Ἀτλαντείης) was a Hamadryad nymph who consorted with King Danaus of Libya and perhaps the mother of some of the Danaïdes: Hippodamia, Rhodia, Cleopatra, Asteria, Hippodamia, Glauce, Hippomedusa, Gorge, Iphimedusa, and Rhode.

Apollodorus only identified these daughters of Danaus by Atlantia and Phoebe (another hamadryad), not specifying who was the daughter of the other. These ten women joined the sons of King Aegyptus of Egypt who were begotten on an Arabian woman. Later on, these princesses slew their cousin-husbands during their wedding night.

In Greek mythology, Hippodamia, Hippodamea or Hippodameia (/ˌhɪpɒdəˈmaɪ.ə/; Ancient Greek: Ἱπποδάμεια, "she who masters horses" derived from ἵππος hippos "horse" and δαμάζειν damazein "to tame") may refer to these female characters:

• Hippodamia, daughter of Oenomaus, and wife of Pelops.
• Hippodamia, wife of Pirithous and daughter of Atrax or Butes.
• Hippodamia, wife of Autonous and mother of Anthus.
• Hippodamia, daughter of Anicetus who consorted with Zeus.
• Hippodamia, name shared by two of the Danaïdes, daughters of King Danaus of Libya either by the hamadryads, Atlanteia or Phoebe. One of them married and killed her husband Istrus and the other Diocorystes. These princes were sons of King Aegyptus of Egypt and an Arabian woman. Either of these two Hippodamia became the mother of Olenus by Zeus.
• Hippodamia, also known as Laodamia or Deidamia, daughter of the hero Bellerophon and Philonoe, daughter of the Lycian king Iobates. She was said to mothered Sarpedon by the god Zeus.

In Greek mythology, Philodice or Philodike (Ancient Greek: Φιλοδίκη) was the name of the following figures:

• Philodice, an Argive naiad, daughter of Inachus, river-king of Argos. She was the wife of Leucippus of Messenia by whom she became the mother of Hilaeira and Phoebe, and possibly Arsinoe. Philodice was considered the sister of Phoroneus, Io and Aegialeus.
• Philodice, also Phylodice (Φυλοδίκη), wife of Magnes, king of Magnesia and mother of his sons, Eurynomus and Eioneus. Otherwise the wife of Magnes was called Meliboea by Eustathius.

• Leucippus (son of Perieres), a Messenian prince and father of the Phoebe, Hilaera and Arsinoe.
• Leucippus of Crete, son of Lamprus and Galatea, who was born female and was magically transformed into a man by the goddess Leto.
• Leucippus (son of Thurimachus), the son of Thurimachus and king of Sicyon.
• Leucippus (son of Xanthius), the son of Xanthius who consorted with his own sister and later with Leucophryne.
• Leucippus, the Thespian son of Heracles and Eurytele, daughter of King Thespius of Thespiae. Leucippus and his 49 half-brothers were born of Thespius' daughters who were impregnated by Heracles in one night, for a week or in the course of 50 days while hunting for the Cithaeronian lion. Later on, the hero sent a message to Thespius to keep seven of these sons and send three of them in Thebes while the remaining forty, joined by Iolaus, were dispatched to the island of Sardinia to found a colony.
• Leucippus, a Calydonian hunter, son of Hippocoon.
• Leucippus, a Pisatian prince as son of King Oenomaus. He was a companion of Daphne, whom he was in love with and tried to approach in the disguise of a fellow nymph of hers. Because of Apollo's jealousy, his disguise was revealed by the nymphs, who killed him instantly upon discovery. This Leucippus might be the one referred to having a wife and a rival Apollo in love.
• Leucippus, the son of Poemander who was killed accidentally by his father.
• Leucippus, a Lesbian prince and one of the sons of King Macareus, and the leader of a colony at Rhodes
• Leucippus, son of Naxos, the eponym of Naxos, and king of the island. His son was Smerdius.
• Leucippus, a Cyrenean prince as son of King Eurypylus of Cyrene and Sterope, daughter of Helios. He was the brother of Lycaon.
