Penedès is one of the eight regions (vegueries) defined by the Regional Plan of Catalonia. Located in south of Catalonia, it includes the comarques from historical Penedès region (Alt Penedès, Baix Penedès and Garraf), along with the southern municipalities of Anoia. It had 497.764 inhabitants as of 2022. It was approved as a region in February 2017.

Its de facto capital is Vilanova i la Geltrú, the most populous city, as a law has not set one yet.

Penedès (division) in the context of Ponent

Ponent, also known as the Lleida region following the vegueries law, is the westernmost of the eight regions (vegueries) defined by the Regional Plan of Catalonia. It has an area of 5,586 km, and 365,289 inhabitants as of 2022.

The region includes the comarques of Segrià, Garrigues, Noguera, Pla d'Urgell, Segarra and Urgell. Within Catalonia, it borders to the north with Alt Pirineu, to the east with Central Catalonia, Penedès and Camp de Tarragona, and to the south with Terres de l'Ebre. Outside of administrative terms, the name is sometimes used including the Aragonese comarques of Baix Cinca and La Llitera, which are part of the Catalan-speaking territory in Aragon known as Franja de Ponent.

Central Catalonia (Catalan: Catalunya Central; IPA: [kə.təˈɫu.ɲə sənˈtɾaɫ]), also known as Comarques Centrals, is one of the nine regions (vegueries) of Catalonia.

It had 412,033 inhabitants in 2022. Located around the upper and middle sections of the Llobregat and Ter rivers, it includes the counties of Bages, Berguedà, Lluçanès, Moianès, Osona and Solsonès. It borders to the north-west with Alt Pirineu, to the west with Ponent, to the south with Penedès, to the south-east with Barcelona and to the north and north-east with Girona.

Camp de Tarragona (Catalan pronunciation: [ˈkam tərəˈɣonə]) is a natural and historical region, as well as one of the nine regions (vegueries) of Catalonia. It is the third most populated region, with 536,453 inhabitants as of 2022.

The region includes the counties of Tarragonès, Alt Camp, Baix Camp, Conca de Barberà and Priorat. It borders to the east with Penedès and Central Catalonia, to the north with Ponent and to the west with Terres de l'Ebre.
