The Metropolis of Greater Paris (French: Métropole du Grand Paris, pronounced [metʁopɔl dy ɡʁɑ̃ paʁi]), also known as Greater Paris, is a métropole covering the City of Paris and its nearest surrounding suburbs that was created from Sarkozy's renovation of the city.

The métropole came into existence on 1 January 2016; it comprises 130 communes, including Paris and all 123 communes in the surrounding inner-suburban departments of the Petite Couronne (Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-de-Marne), plus seven communes in two of the outer-suburban departments, including the communes of Argenteuil in Val-d'Oise, Savigny-sur-Orge, Juvisy-sur-Orge, Viry-Châtillon and Paray-Vieille-Poste in Essonne, the last of which covers part of Orly Airport. Part of the métropole comprises the Seine department, which existed from 1929 to 1968.

Paris Métro Line 14 (French: Ligne 14 du métro de Paris) is one of the sixteen lines currently open on the Paris Métro. It connects Saint-Denis–Pleyel and Aéroport d'Orly on a northwest–southeast diagonal via the three major stations of Gare Saint-Lazare, the Châtelet–Les-Halles complex, and Gare de Lyon. The line goes through the centre of Paris and also serves the communes of Saint-Denis, Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine, Clichy, Le Kremlin-Bicêtre, Gentilly, Villejuif, Chevilly-Larue, L'Haÿ-les-Roses, Thiais and Paray-Vieille-Poste.

The first Paris Métro line built from scratch since the 1930s, line 14 has been operated completely automatically since its opening in 1998, and the very positive return of that experiment motivated the retrofitting of Line 1 for full automation. Before the start of its commercial service Line 14 was known as project Météor, an acronym for MÉTro Est-Ouest Rapide.

Air Inter (French pronunciation: [ɛʁ‿ɛ̃tɛʁ]) (legally Lignes Aériennes Intérieures) was a semi-public French domestic airline in France that operated from 1954 until it merged with Air France in 1997. It was last headquartered in Paray-Vieille-Poste, Essonne. Earlier in its life, it was headquartered in the 1st arrondissement of Paris.

Air Inter was incorporated on 12 November 1954. It operated its first commercial flight between Paris and Strasbourg on 16 March 1958. However, it was 1960 when the airline started regular commercial services.

Aéroport d'Orly station (French pronunciation: [aeʁɔpɔʁ dɔʁli]) is a Paris Métro station serving as the southern terminus station of Line 14, built as part of the Grand Paris Express project. It is located on the land of the commune Paray-Vieille-Poste and serves Orly Airport, about 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) south of Paris. The station opened with the extension of Line 14 to the south on 24 June 2024, shortly before the start of the 2024 Summer Olympics and 2024 Summer Paralympics.
