Marine Parade in the context of "Central Region, Singapore"

East Coast Park (ECP) is a beach and a park on the southeastern coast of Singapore. It stretches along the south of Marine Parade, Bedok, and Tampines. It was opened in the 1970s, after the Singapore government had completed reclaiming land off the coast at Katong, from Kallang to Changi. Themed "Recreation for All", it not only serves the needs of communities in the east, other Singapore residents do also visit the park for sports, recreation, and food.

The 185-hectare (460-acre) East Coast Park is the largest park in Singapore, and is built entirely on reclaimed land with a man-made beach, where swimming is possible. The beach is protected by breakwaters.

Kallang (IPA: /ˈkɑːlɑːŋ, -ʌŋ/ KAH-lung) is a planning area and residential zone located in the Central Region of Singapore.

Development of the town is centered around the Kallang River, the longest river in Singapore. Kallang Planning Area is bounded by Toa Payoh in the north, Geylang in the east, Marine Parade in the southeast, Marina East in the south, the Downtown Core in the southwest, Rochor, Newton in the west, and Novena in the northwest.

Bedok (IPA: /bəˈdoʊk/ bə-DOHK) is a planning area and residential town located in the geographical region of Tanah Merah along the south-eastern coast of the East Region of Singapore. Bedok is bounded by five other planning areas: Paya Lebar to the north, Hougang to the northwest, Tampines to the northeast and east, Geylang to the west and Marine Parade to the southwest. It also shares a maritime boundary with the Singapore Strait to the south and southeast.

Bedok has a history of evidenced human settlement dating back to the 14th century. The area was originally a fishing village and agriculture centre, but it became a residential and commercial hub with development.

Katong (commonly referred to as Tanjong Katong) is a residential neighbourhood in the eastern portion of the Central Region of Singapore, within the Marine Parade planning area. The Katong district stretches from Fort Road area to the Joo Chiat area. It used to be located by the sea, before land reclamation towards the south to East Coast Park was created for housing and recreational purposes beginning in the 1960s to 1970s.

Katong was the location of many villas and mansions of the wealthy elite in the late 19th to the mid-20th centuries. They made their fortunes in the Far East and built seaside resorts, villas and manors along the beachfront of Katong, beginning from Katong Park to the end of the East Coast.

Marine Parade Constituency was a single-member constituency in Marine Parade, Singapore. It was formed in 1976 after the land reclamation works to build Marine Parade were completed and carved out from Joo Chiat Constituency.

Goh Chok Tong made his political debut in the constituency when it was formed in 1976. He would later become the second Prime Minister of Singapore.

The Marine Parade Group Representation Constituency was a five-member group representation constituency (GRC) in central, eastern and north-eastern Singapore. It covered sections of the planning areas of Bedok, Geylang, Kallang, Marine Parade, Serangoon and Hougang. At abolition, it had five divisions: Marine Parade, Geylang Serai, Braddell Heights, Joo Chiat and Kembangan–Chai Chee, managed by Marine Parade Town Council.
