The Macon metropolitan area is a metropolitan statistical area consisting of five counties in Central Georgia, anchored by the principal city of Macon. At the 2010 U.S. census, the five-county area had a population of 232,293. A July 2017 estimate placed the population at 228,914. In 2022, its estimated population was 235,805.
Knoxville is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Crawford County, Georgia, United States. It is the county seat of Crawford County. The community is part of the Macon metropolitan area. As of the 2020 census, Knoxville had a population of 65.
Knoxville was founded in 1823 as seat of the newly formed Crawford County. It was incorporated as a town in 1825. The former city's municipal charter was dissolved in 1995 pursuant to a Georgia law which abolished city governments which were defunct or minimally operative.
