Kardamyli in the context of "Mani Peninsula"

Avia (Greek: Αβία, Ancient Greek: ἡ Ἀβία) is a village and a former municipality in Messenia, Peloponnese, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality West Mani, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 179.828 km. The seat of the municipality was in Kampos. Avia is a popular tourist destination. It also has a large olive production. Avia is situated on the east coast of the Messenian Gulf, southeast of Kalamata, southwest of Sparta and northwest of Kardamyli.

West Mani (Greek: Δυτική Μάνη, romanized: Dytiki Mani) is a municipality in the Messenia regional unit, Peloponnese, Greece. The seat of the municipality is the town Kardamyli. The municipality has an area of 402.809 km.

It comprises the northwestern part of the geographic and historical region of the Mani Peninsula, also known as Messenian Mani (Μεσσηνιακή Μάνη) or Outer Mani (Έξω Μάνη), in juxtaposition with the southeastern part of Mani (Laconian Mani or Inner Mani), which is covered by the municipality of East Mani.
