The upper bucket is used to place the wet mop for storage and press handle to wring out the mop. Water trickles down to another bucket below, which collects the waste water. In some carts, there are separate lower front bucket to collect waste water. The smaller lower rear bucket is filled with a floor cleaning solution. Wheels are usually present to allow the user to push the cart around using the wring handle bar to steer, allowing complete mobility.

In North Germany and in sailor's language, a scrubber is also called a Leuwagen, hence in large firms or offices a cleaning party is sometimes jokingly called a Leuwagenballett ("scrubber ballet").

Robotic vacuums are usually smaller than traditional upright vacuums, and weigh significantly less than even the lightest canister models. However, a downside to a robotic vacuum cleaner is that it takes an extended amount of time to vacuum an area due to its size. They are also relatively expensive, and replacement parts and batteries can contribute significantly to their operating cost. Concerns over privacy and security have also been raised around robotic vacuums.
