European route E65 in the context of "European route"

The Medžitlija-Níki border crossing linking North Macedonia with Greece is one of the three transit points for road vehicles between the two states. Situated about 190 km from Thessaloniki and the same to Skopje, it also once served as Yugoslavia's southernmost exit. It is located on the European route E65.

Despite linking the important city of Bitola with the regions of western Greece including Corfu and other holiday spots, it is the other crossing Evzoni-Bogorodica which is of greater significance as it forms a part of the E75 express route. The region around Medžitlija-Níki is far less developed on both sides of the border.

Greek National Road 3 (Greek: Εθνική Οδός 3, abbreviated as EO3) is a single carriageway road in Greece. It connects Elefsina near Athens with the border of North Macedonia at Niki. It passes through Larissa and Florina. At Niki, it connects with the M5K motorway to Bitola. The section Kozani - Niki is also designated as the A27 motorway, part of which is operational as a 2-lane motorway.

Greek National Road 3 is one of the longest national roads in Greece and until the 1960s it served as the main route from Larissa to Thessaloniki. The A1 motorway now offers a faster connection to Thessaloniki. Most of the EO3, except the southernmost section between Eleusis and Bralos, is part of the E65.

National Road 48 (Greek: Εθνική Οδός 48, abbreviated as EO48) is a single carriageway road in central Greece. It connects the Greek National Road 5 at Antirrio with the town Livadeia, passing through Naupactus and Delphi. The section between Antirrio and Itea is part of European route E65. The GR-48 passes through the regional units Aetolia-Acarnania, Phocis and Boeotia.

Níki (Greek: Νίκη, before 1926: Νεγκοτσάνη – Negkotsani; Macedonian and Bulgarian: Негочани, Negočani or Negochani) is a village situated in the Florina regional unit, Greece, along the border with North Macedonia. The village is located 14 km (8.7 mi) north of Florina at the Medžitlija-Níki border crossing. Its name in Greek means victory. The main road through Niki connects the border crossing with the city of Kozani and forms a part of the E65 route.

The village was first mentioned in an Ottoman defter of 1468, where it is listed under the name of Negočani and described as having 203 households. In 1481, the number had declined to 112 households. The village produced vines, flax, hemp, honey, and swine; and possessed mills and a market.

Gorski Kotar (pronounced [ɡǒrski kôtaːr] ) is the mountainous region in Croatia between Karlovac and Rijeka. Because 63% of its surface is forested it is popularly called the green lungs of Croatia or Croatian Switzerland. The European route E65, which connects Budapest and Zagreb with the Adriatic Port of Rijeka, passes through the region.

The A27 motorway is a branch of the A2 Egnatia Odos motorway at Kozani, which leads towards Ptolemaida and from there to Florina and the Niki border crossing with North Macedonia. It is part of the European route E65.

Within 2012 tenders were announced for the construction of the 14,5 km section from Florina up to the border crossing with North Macedonia as a motorway. Construction started in 2013 and finished in December 2015. The northern part from Florina to Niki was opened to traffic on 20 May 2016. The section from Ptolemaida to Florina is operational as an expressway (GR-3) and is planned to be upgraded to a motorway sometime until 2025.

Bralos or Brallos (Greek: Μπράλ[λ]ος) is a village located on the slopes of Mount Kallidromon in Phthiotis, Greece. It is part of the municipality Amfikleia-Elateia. The town can be found along European route E65, and is served by Bralos railway station.

European route E961 is a Class B European route in the Greek regional units of Arcadia and Laconia, running from Tripoli to Gytheio. Introduced as part of the original alignment of the E65 in 1983, it is part of the International E-road network, a network of main roads in Europe.
