Dental school in the context of "Oral and maxillofacial surgery"

The UCL Eastman Dental Institute is the dental school of University College London (UCL) and an academic department of UCL's Faculty of Medical Sciences. The institute is based on Gray's Inn Road in the Bloomsbury district of London, United Kingdom, adjacent to the Eastman Dental Hospital, with which it is closely associated.

The institute is the largest postgraduate dental centre in Europe, and together with the Eastman Dental Hospital forms one of the largest concentrations of oral health care specialists and research in Europe. The institute runs an extensive CPD programme in dedicated facilities.

Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine is an academic unit of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) located in Alton, Illinois, United States, in the Greater St. Louis area. The school is one of three dental schools in the state of Illinois and is mandated with the mission "to improve the oral health of the people of Southern Illinois and the region through education, patient care, scholarship and service".

A part of the Southern Illinois University system, the school has nearly 200 students (about 50 in each entering class) and provides a fully accredited and nationally recognized dental education.

Indiana University Indianapolis (IU Indianapolis or IU Indy) is an urban public research university in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States, and is a core campus of the Indiana University system. It was founded on July 1, 2024, after its predecessor institution, Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), split into IU Indianapolis and Purdue University in Indianapolis. It is Indiana's primary urban research and academic health sciences institution. It is located in downtown Indianapolis along the White River and Fall Creek.

Among more than 550 degree programs, the university hosts the primary campuses for both the Indiana University School of Medicine, the largest medical school in the country, and the Indiana University School of Dentistry, the only dental school in the state. Also present is the IU McKinney School of Law, one of two IU law schools, as well as the Indianapolis campus of the IU Kelley School of Business. In February 2025, IU Indy's Carnegie Classification was elevated to "R1: Doctoral Universities – very high research spending and doctorate production".

Aberdeen University School of Medicine, Medical Sciences & Nutrition contains the Medical school and Dental school at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. It also provides training and carries out research in medical sciences, nutrition, public health, dentistry, health sciences, physician associate studies at BSc, MSc, and PhD levels. The current school was formed from the merger of the former School of Medicine & Dentistry, School of Medical Sciences, and the Rowett Institute of Nutrition.

Medicine has been taught at the university since the founding of King's College in 1495. The formal establishment of a medical school supporting a broad curriculum appears to postdate 1787 when there were calls "for the establishment of a medical school" in Aberdeen.
