Autostrada A25 (Italy) in the context of Aterno-Pescara

⭐ Core Definition: Autostrada A25 (Italy)

The Autostrada A25 or Strada dei Parchi ("Parks Motorway") is an autostrada (Italian for "motorway") 114 kilometres (71 mi) long in Italy mostly located in the region of Abruzzo connecting the Torano interchange (where it splits from the Autostrada A24) to Pescara and Autostrada A14, in the Adriatic coast. The A25 takes its name "Parks Motorway" from the Maiella National Park, the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park and the Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park, all served and connected to the national motorway system by it. It is part of the E80 European route.

The A25 splits from the A24 at the border with the region of Lazio at the Svincolo direzionale Torano (Torano interchange). It then crosses the Fucine Plain and the Marsica through the Abruzzese Apennines up to the valley of the river Pescara, where at the Adriatic Coast finally merges into Autostrada A14 near Pescara. The A25 is 114 kilometres (71 mi) long with two service stations near each end about 80 kilometres (50 mi) apart. Together with Autostrada A24 the motorway is currently managed by the private company Strada dei Parchi S.p.A.

Autostrada A25 (Italy) in the context of Abruzzo Airport

Abruzzo Airport (IATA: PSR, ICAO: LIBP) is an international airport serving Pescara, Italy. It is located approximately 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) from the centre of Pescara, about 180 km (110 mi) from Rome, a 2-hour drive by car on a motorway across the Apennine Mountains. The airport is located on the state road 5 Via Tiburtina Valeria and is connected to important roads (Autostrada A25, Autostrada A14, SS714 Tangenziale di Pescara) and railway connections (Rome–Sulmona–Pescara railway, Adriatic railway).

Being the only international airport in the Abruzzo region, it plays a fundamental role for the transportation and aerial connection of the area and for that of neighbouring regions; catering also for people from Molise, Marche and the Gargano area. The airport has seen a steady increase in the number of transit passengers over the years, mainly due to a growth in low-cost airlines and flights. The terminal built in 1996 has been extended in 2011 and recently restructured in 2018.
