Mitte (German: [ˈmɪtə] ) is the first and most central borough of Berlin. The borough consists of six sub-entities: Mitte proper, Gesundbrunnen, Hansaviertel, Moabit, Tiergarten and Wedding.

It is one of the two boroughs (the other being Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg) which were formerly divided between East Berlin and West Berlin. Mitte encompasses Berlin's historic core and includes some of the most important tourist sites of Berlin like the Reichstag and Berlin Hauptbahnhof, Checkpoint Charlie, Museum Island, the TV tower, Brandenburg Gate, Unter den Linden, Potsdamer Platz, Alexanderplatz and Fotografiska Berlin. The latter seven of which were in former East Berlin.

Berlin Alexanderplatz is a German railway station in the Mitte district of Berlin's city centre. It is one of the busiest transport hubs in the Berlin area, servicing surface-level trams and buses as well as the U-Bahn, S-Bahn, and regional rail. The station takes its name from its location on Alexanderplatz, near the Fernsehturm and the World Clock. It is open 24/7.

The Red Town Hall (German: Rotes Rathaus German: [ˈʁoːtəs ˈʁaːtˌhaʊs] ) is the town hall of Berlin, Germany, located in the Mitte district on Rathausstraße near Alexanderplatz. It is the seat to the Governing Mayor of Berlin and the government (the Senate of Berlin) of the state of the city.

The Fernsehturm (German: [ˈfɛ͡ənzeːˌtʊ͡ɐm] ; lit. 'Television Tower') in central Berlin was constructed between 1965 and 1969 by the government of the German Democratic Republic as both a functional broadcasting facility and a symbol of Communist power.

It remains a landmark today from its position next to Alexanderplatz in the city's Marien Quarter, part of the district of Mitte, visible across most suburban districts of Berlin. With a height of 368 metres (1,207 ft) (including antenna) it is the tallest structure in Germany, and the third-tallest structure in the European Union. When built it was the fourth-tallest freestanding structure in the world after the Empire State Building and the John Hancock Center.
